WWE SmackDown Live Backlash Results

Hi! 🙂

WWE World Championship Match
AJ Styles def. Dean Ambrose (c)

Yay! The Phenomenal One That Runs The Place can really run the place now that he (FINALLY) is champion!!! This is amazing.

I am a fan of both Ambrose and Styles (although I have known Styles longer) and so this was a personal dream match of mine.

Okay, fine, I don’t like the manner in which Styles captured the title but.. he is heel after all. Many have been criticising Ambrose’s run as champion… and, although I hate to admit it, he just wasn’t giving us what we wanted from a champion. Perhaps Styles could do the title some justice?

After all, SmackDown Live is the land of opportunity… so shouldn’t everyone be given a chance?

SmackDown Tag Team Championship Final
Heath Slater & Rhyno def. The Usos

New contract for (what is probably) the greatest bromance in the WWE, as of right now. I think that the Usos got away with so much, on their journey to turning heel. Slater and Rhyno were obviously the best choices for this match. This was a good choice. Now, it is time for the duo to deliver.

No Holds Barred Match
Kane def. Bray Wyatt

Bray Wyatt def. Randy Orton by forfeit

What level of messed up is this ranked on?

Apparently Orton was uncleared long before the 11th but WWE still advertised the match. And the the Eater of Worlds gets consumed by the Devil’s Favourite Demon (who is pretty irrelevant nowadays, might I add).

Wow. This, right here, is a perfect example of lack of names on the SmackDown Live roster.

Intercontinental Championship Match
The Miz (c) def. Dolph Ziggler

People are listing this match as the best of the night. It was very good and had a lot of amazing spots. And The Miz retained.

This could be because Ziggler has been in need of revamping, for quite some time now really, and having a run with the championship would just end up making fans mad. Good choice by SmackDown here.

Second Chance Challenge to Advance into Tag Team Tournament Final
The Usos def. Hype Bros

Okay… I would be lying if I said that I didn’t see this coming. The Usos are heel and.. The Hype Bros… well, they just stay hyped.

SmackDown Women’s Championship Six-Pack Challenge
Becky Lynch def. Nikki Bella and Carmella and Naomi and Natalya and Alexa Bliss

The Irish Lass Kicker finally gets her big break! The only thing left is to see how she handles this task.

Whatever happens, this hardworking woman will go down in the history books as one of the greatest, and now the first ever SmackDown Women’s Champion.

Kickoff Match
Baron Corbin def. Apollo Crews

On the kickoff show?! Are you being for real?

Corbin has been on the kickoff show and Crews is one of the freshest faces.

The SmackDown Tag Team Championship Semi-Finals should have taken this spot instead.

On the plus side, there was only one match on the kickoff show… that’s good.

  1. 1. AJ Styles is going to run WWE to the ground!
    2. I have no problems with Heath and Rhyno being champions, but the first people to have the belt? I’m not sure.
    3. Having Becky Lynch as a champion isn’t a bad move, I’m just not confident in her speaking skills.
