Ah… WWE is hosting their third pay-per view of the year tomorrow.
What does this mean?
- It means that Raw is going to try to make this a great show so that it beats SmackDown LIVE’s Elimination Chamber
- It means that this is the last major stop to Wrestlemania 33
- It means that a lot of other things are going to happen but I am not willing to write them all (or I just have no clue what else could happen)
With all of this happening, there is one main thing on WWE’s mind: Wrestlemania 33
These past two pay-per views (since Royal Rumble earlier on this year) have been the build-up and there are a few exciting things to look out for at Fastlane.
Fastlane is the pay-per view which could change Raw’s plans for Wrestlemania 33 (as did Elimination Chamber for SmackDown LIVE)
We don’t know for sure what is going to happen at Fastlane but here’s how I would book it:
Rich Swann & Akira Tozawa v The Brian Kendrick & Noam Dar
Perhaps I am the only one, or maybe only 2 out of 55 people reading this actually relate, but I kind of don’t know what is happening with the cruiserweights currently.
I know Neville is currently champion and he turned heel.
I also know that Noam Dar became romantically linked with Alicia Fox (are they serious?!) after she was with Cedric Alexander but other than that… nothing.
So this match… erm… it is quite clear that Swann & Tozawa are the faces of this match so my prediction for this match would be that the two heels (Kendrick & Dar) would beat the living daylights out of Swann & Akira.
I think it’s a bad idea for the cruiserweights to be the kick-off match… why not have some other match that people aren’t so excited for (e.g. Braun Strowman v Roman Reigns)
As much as I don’t really see why this match is on the kick-off show, we could see Tozawa rise and show off his astounding abilities and eventually rise to the title picture?
Kevin Owens v Goldberg
If someone asked me last year whether I thought this match would ever happen, I would have laughed in their face but here we are, in the year 2017, having the match as our main event and to top it all off, it is for the Universal Championship.
Why would they do this? Well.. I don’t know.
But whatever the reason, it is probably linked to Wrestlemania 33.
I, along with a lot of the Internet Wrestling Community, think that Owens will lose (perhaps due to interference from Jericho?). Owens would then go on to feud with Jericho whilst Goldberg v Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania would become a Universal Championship match.
It is being said that Goldberg is only around for a while so perhaps this would be the way for him to go out? At Wrestlemania when he loses to Lesnar? As for Owens and Jericho… that feud has a lot of potential and I can see it drawing people for a long time, even past Wrestlemania.
Bayley v Charlotte Flair
Now this match is one of those matches that makes you question everything.
What will WWE do? Will they continue Charlotte’s PPV Championship match undefeated streak (making Charlotte regain the championship) or let Bayley hold onto the championship (breaking Charlotte’s streak)?
This is one match where WWE seems to have created a great deal of speculation as to what the outcome will be. I think Flair should regain the championship and if (and only if) the rumoured fatal 4-way happens, then Flair’s streak should be ended. After her defeat at Wrestlemania, Flair should have a break and/or work less serious matches (heaven knows she deserves the break).
If WWE wants to do things another way, an alternative would be to make Bayley win the match at Fastlane.
This way, both Charlotte and Ric would share a number (16)
The Numbers with Flairs:
Charlotte Flair – 16 (Consecutive) Undefeated PPV Championship Matches
Ric Flair – 16 World Championships (tied with John Cena for most amount)
Roman Reigns v Braun Strowman
This is that match which I really don’t want to watch but I would like to know the result.
Reason why I don’t want to watch: I just don’t like both wrestlers involved.
Reason why I want to know the result: I need to know for the blog and it will be interesting to see how WWE pull this match through.
I truly believe that this match will have a controversial ending. There probably won’t be a clear-cut winner.
WWE has been pushing Strowman by putting him in squash matches and other matches where he would… squash and that would have been all in vain if Reigns defeats him.
Reigns is the baby goat of WWE and as such, he should be protected, for Strowman to defeat Reigns could just belittle Reigns’ ‘overcome anything’ persona.
I would say that perhaps Reigns will turn heel but then that might not be able to happen yet although that could help his character right now.
Every night that Reigns walks down that ramp, he gets booed. This reaction would be fine if he was a heel but he is a face. A babyface, as a matter of fact. Why not just turn heel so that the crowd boos him for something that he deserves?
Sami Zayn v Samoa Joe
Zayn is in for a beating. We all know that Joe is going to come out of this match victorious.
Although Zayn is taking the fall in this match, I have noticed that Zayn is the guy that most people go through and become top stars, after beating.
In these matches, although getting defeated, Zayn manages to have instant classic, potential Match of the Years and get his opponent over.
This will be a good match, even though it is just a stepping ladder.
I just have one main request: Please don’t get injured Zayn?
Neville v Jack Gallagher
The cruiserweights second match of the evening will be for the championship.
I think Gallagher is an amazing wrestler but I honestly believe that Neville should hold on the champion.
The Cruiserweight Championship has been getting passed around a hot potato (although not as much as Banks & Flair with the WWE Women’s Champion) and it is about time that the title settles. This will also help so that when the next person wins it, it will seem meaningful and not just as though they had their ‘Next to win the Cruiserweight Champion’ ticket in their front pocket.
Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson v Enzo Amore & Big Cass
Maybe this is because I am a Bullet Club fan and I have seen the Raw Tag Team Champion’s previous work or it is just that they have been underutilised but here is the bottom line:
GALLOWS & ANDERSON NEED TO BE REVAMPED.
Ever since they got into WWE, the tag team has been floating about.
Perhaps a loss of the titles will make things okay?
They could then revamp and turn extra-heel?
They should also joke a little bit (just like old Bullet Club times)
Sasha Banks v Nia Jax
I don’t even know.
I think these two might just keep feuding until Wrestlemania (for fatal 4 way)
Banks could even show a mean streak so that this leads to her long awaited heel turn?
As for Jax, I don’t know…
She’s not like most girls… 😛
Let’s see how Raw could beat match up to SmackDown LIVE
